Skill Vault

Give your AI a useful way to work.

Reusable instructions for thinking, planning, writing and building. Find a method, try it, and keep what works.

How this works

A method your AI can use again.

A prompt starts a conversation. A Skill packages instructions for a repeatable way of working, so you can call on the same method again.

  1. 1Find a Skill for a real task.
  2. 2Read its example and setup requirements.
  3. 3Add it to your AI tool, then give it your task.

Building your whole AI setup?

Skill Vault adds one repeatable behavior at a time. If your AI still needs the context, boundaries, and first workflow those Skills should fit into, start with Home Base.

Start with Home Base

Public release v0.1.2 — install the latest source or pin the tested release.

Install latest

Command
npx skills@latest add MattEspo23/skills --skill '*'

Reproducible install

Command
npx skills@latest add 'MattEspo23/skills#v0.1.2' --skill '*'

Clean installs are verified for Codex and Claude Code. The installer copies editable files into the selected agent; review every Skill before giving it tool access.

Choose by when you reach for it

The Vault is organized around the moment a behavior becomes useful.

Getting Started

Set up the collection once, then find the right path for the situation you are in. Start here

  • The /setup-espo-skills Skill /setup-espo-skills: Configure one repository so the rest of the engineering Skills know where its work and context live. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /ask-espo Skill /ask-espo: Describe your situation and get the Skill or sequence that fits, plus the human decisions along the way. Public adapted baseline · video planned

The Main Flow

Move from a loose idea to specified, tested, and reviewed work. Start here

  • The /grill-with-docs Skill /grill-with-docs: Get interviewed about a plan while recording the shared language and durable decisions it creates. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /to-spec Skill /to-spec: Turn an already-settled conversation into a written specification without reopening the interview. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /to-tickets Skill /to-tickets: Split a specification into tracer-bullet tickets with explicit blocking relationships. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /implement Skill /implement: Build work that has already been decided, using agreed seams, tests, and a final review. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /code-review Skill /code-review: Review a diff separately against repository standards and the specification it was meant to implement. Public adapted baseline · video planned

Shaping

Explore an open question and produce the decision or evidence that lets work continue. Start here

  • The Semantic Tree /semantic-tree: Turn a vague idea into a structured map of what matters, what connects, and what to decide next. Public EspoAI original · video planned
  • The /wayfinder Skill /wayfinder: Chart a large, foggy effort as a map of decision tickets and resolve them until the route is visible. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /prototype Skill /prototype: Write throwaway code that answers one design or behavior question you cannot settle by talking. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /research Skill /research: Investigate a question against primary sources and leave a cited answer in the repository. Public adapted baseline · video planned

Upkeep

Keep the codebase, issue queue, setup, and operational edges healthy. Start here

  • The /improve-codebase-architecture Skill /improve-codebase-architecture: Find modules worth deepening and present the strongest refactoring candidates as a visual report. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /diagnosing-bugs Skill /diagnosing-bugs: Diagnose a hard bug through a tight failing loop before proposing or implementing the fix. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /resolving-merge-conflicts Skill /resolving-merge-conflicts: Resolve an active merge or rebase conflict hunk by hunk using each side’s original intent. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /triage Skill /triage: Move incoming issues and external pull requests through a small, evidence-backed triage state machine. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /wizard Skill /wizard: Generate an interactive script for setup steps only a person can complete. Public adapted baseline · video planned

Productivity Skills

Human-facing workflows for thinking, learning, continuity, and communication. Start here

  • YouTube Action Plan /youtube-action-plan: Turn a useful video into a focused plan you can apply, test, and revisit instead of another pile of notes. Public EspoAI original · video planned
  • The /grill-me Skill /grill-me: Turn a loose idea into real decisions through a rigorous conversation in question rounds. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /handoff Skill /handoff: Compact a long conversation into a portable handoff another agent or person can continue. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /to-questionnaire Skill /to-questionnaire: Turn open questions into a document for the person who actually holds the missing knowledge. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /teach Skill /teach: Learn a topic over multiple sessions through small lessons, practice, and durable learning records. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /wait-what Skill /wait-what: Ask the agent to re-pitch its last message with missing context and plain language. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /writing-for-agents Skill /writing-for-agents: Write Skills and instruction documents that agents can discover, load, and follow predictably. Public adapted baseline · video planned

Reference Skills

Reusable disciplines and vocabulary that strengthen the other workflows. Start here

  • The /grilling Skill /grilling: The reusable interview discipline behind Skills that stress-test plans and decisions. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /codebase-design Skill /codebase-design: Use a shared vocabulary for designing deep modules with small interfaces and strong seams. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /domain-modeling Skill /domain-modeling: Sharpen a project’s vocabulary and record domain terms and durable decisions when they become settled. Public adapted baseline · video planned
  • The /tdd Skill /tdd: Build behavior through a red-green-refactor loop at a stable, meaningful seam. Public adapted baseline · video planned

Set the behavior up once

A prompt helps with one conversation. A Skill packages the behavior, inputs, checks, and boundaries so your agent can use it again without rebuilding the method.

Try the core behavior first

When it is safe and useful, a Skill can include a source-backed Try once instruction. Installation remains the recurring path; the trial is there to help you evaluate it.
